Jessica Plattner is an artist and educator in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. She earned a BFA in painting from Washington University School of Art in St. Louis, and an MFA in painting from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Temple Rome in Italy. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Mexico in 2007-08, and has attended residencies at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, The Vermont Studio Center, and SACI in Florence, Italy. Plattner's work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Currently Plattner teaches in the Visual Communications program at Medicine Hat College and maintains a studio at The Hive Artists' Hub where she also serves on the board of directors. She lives with her partner, artist/musician Dean Smale, and their darling daughter.
