Jessica Plattner is an American artist residing in Canada. She earned an MFA in painting from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Temple Rome, Italy; and a BFA from Washington University School of Fine Art in St. Louis. A highlight of her early career was a Fulbright Scholarship to Mexico in 2007-08, where she produced a solo exhibition at the Universidad de Guanajuato. Since moving to Canada four years ago, Plattner has had solo exhibitions at the Art Gallery of St. Albert in Edmonton (2016), the Okotoks Art Gallery in Okotoks (2016), and the Esplanade Art Gallery in Medicine Hat (2014). She currently teaches in the Visual Communications Program at Medicine Hat College, and maintains a studio at the Hive Artists’ Hub, a non-profit artist’s collective in downtown Medicine Hat. She lives with her partner, artist/musician Dean Smale, and their daughter.
